Requesting information and experiences from the PhD program at UC Berkeley

Post a Comment

I am considering the PhD program at Berkeley; however, by and large, I have only heard negative comments about the program. And despite being ranked very high, many of their statistics do not look very favorable (most notably, the sky-high student/faculty ratio, the mediocre completion rate, and an average of roughly six years to degree). Moreover, UC Berkeley has a a very strange qualifying exam process.

Does anyone who has direct recent experience with UC Berkeley have any comments? Are what people saying accurate, or has it been over- or (bless Berkeley) under-exaggerated?

Your input is appreciated,
