Gowers sheds light on the upcoming "math tricks" wiki News

Timothy Gowers, Fields Medalist and editor of the Princeton Companion to Mathematics, is now about to unveil a mathematical "tricks" wiki known as the Tricki. The Tricki will initially be a collection of wiki articles on general and specific mathematical problem solving techniques. But what's interesting is that Gowers wants to grow the Tricki into a kind of expert system which will semi-automatically guide mathematicians through problem solving tasks using collected knowledge. Here's the article from Gowers' blog about all that.

I wonder if, in the future, instead of having advisors, PhD students will just be pulling open problems off of a discussion board and solving them with the help of a wiki.
