For some, summer can be a time to calm down in terms of academic commitments. But for others, their overachieving children may be sent to a variety of different academic and non-academic camps. For an unconventional summer project, why not enter the Kids Go Crazy 4 Math Contest?
The Kids Go Crazy 4 Math main site quips: "Do you see math everywhere you look?
Tell us how you use math in an activity
you enjoy and you might win a prize."

Excerpts from Kids Go Crazy 4 Math Press Release and the main site:
"The Crazy 4 Math Contest once again is receiving entries from all over the world, showing that mathematics, the universal language, is enjoyed by children everywhere. 'Many of the entries we see this year are ideas that bring families closer together - playing games, measuring a garden, building a fort, baking cookies, selling at a yard sale, even hiking up a mountain,' says Susan Jarema, founder of Googol Learning. 'It's wonderful to see parents and children spending time together . . . and, of course, using math!'"
"To enter the Crazy 4 Math Contest, children simply have to describe how they use math in an activity they enjoy. Entries must be submitted online by July 30th at www.crazy4math.com. The goal is to generate a free list of learning ideas for families and teachers to use. Great entries from last year include 'Math on the Ranch 2x2=4H,' 'Butter-Multiflies' and 'Yardsale: Goals, Recycling, Fun.'"
The Crazy 4 Math Contest main page also totes links to interesting sites with information on:

- Online Math Games
- Math in Sports Resources

and so much more... So check out the site and show them how you and your family use math in your life.
