| and that I may have to take the GRE Math again in April if I don't get a nice offer this round of applications. I knew going into the GRE Math yesterday that I hadn't gotten enough practice exercises in, relying only on Cracking the GRE Math book's examples and chapter review exercises, from precalc through differential equations mainly. I've been pretty busy with other things like work and courses. Having taken the GRE General, I surmised the GRE's are about 1) quick recognition of how to go about a problem, 2) shortcuts help. Although, with the GRE Math, I think actually going back to texts on the topics and working problems in addition to reading about the material is key. Also, sample questions, sample questions, sample questions. There's no substitute.
I have to admit it's been a while since undergrad math, so I knew this wouldn't exactly help. Also, not going through all of the GRE Math prep book. Admittedly, a GRE prep book seems like it's throwing a lot of things at one in hopes that that will be the stuff tested over. But getting your hands on sample questions is the best I think after reviewing.
Does anyone know where additional sample questions are? I was sent a sample test from ETS, and my prep book has 1 sample test. I would like to work through at least half a dozen sample tests by this April, along with reading the later chapters of a calc text. And linear algebra.
Also, I think my grad school market has narrowed given the score I think I will have earned. I'm thinking it's not so pretty LOL. Are GRE scores really so emphasized? I've read that sometimes it's not so important, unless you score badly. I've also read that they're quite important. I guess it doesn't matter now. |
