Childcare is still available, with guaranteed spots for those who register by December 8, at the 2007 Joint Mathematics Meeting in New Orleans January 5-8. The childcare information is available here and it is once again being run through the KiddieCorp Children's Program.
On a personal note, we used the JMM Childcare in San Antonio last year, with great results....

| Our sons at the time were ages 2 and 5, and my husband and I were unsure how they would respond to childcare with people they didn't know in an unfamiliar environment. We decided to try it, however, because while we'd managed to juggle us both going to the Meetings in the past with one young child, it meant sacrificing a number of talks we both wanted to attend, and having a second child added that much more complexity. We decided to try out the childcare by registering the boys for a few hours each day.
The first thing that happened when we arrived at the hotel suite that KiddieCorp was using was that the staff took our picture as a family - that way they had a photo record of who could pick the kids up in addition to names. They also took down our immediate contact information, and gave us a number to call if we had any questions or wanted to check on the boys. The suite itself was divided into two parts. The bedroom area was set up as a quiet room for children who needed to nap. The main living room was divided into different regions, with different activities in each area (e.g. games and coloring). There was a television to show children's movies, but they explained that they wouldn't be turning that on until the afternoon as a quiet-time activity.
We stayed with the boys for a few minutes, but with the workers' encouragement they soon became involved in playing and we were able to leave. They had no difficulty while we were gone, either that day or later in the week. All in all, having official childcare at the Meeting made it much easier on us and, I suspect, more fun for the boys as well. The boys were well cared for by the workers, and there's no question that we'll use this service again.
