ACT, Inc., a not-for-profit educational assessment and research organization
that is probably best known for its standardized college entrance test,
is seeking individuals to develop questions (items) designed to measure
the basic mathematical and analytical skills of a certain population of
college graduates.

Two types of multiple-choice questions are being sought. Questions of one
type test the ability to solve quantitative problems and interpret graphical
data. Questions of the other type test higher-order skills involving the
ability to analyze a quantitative problem and to determine at what point
there is sufficient information to solve the problem. Both types require
knowledge of arithmetic, elementary algebra, and commonly known concepts
of geometry.

Mathematics item writers are typically educators who enjoy formulating
creative problems involving elementary mathematics. Item writers are paid
on a per-item basis for questions that meet ACT's standards. All questions
are submitted via the Unites States Postal Service, with postage paid by ACT.

If you are interested in becoming a mathematics item writer, please visit

https://www.act.org/humanresources/item/form.html

and complete an Item Writer Questionnaire. Please enter "Source Code 57"
in the comment box at the end of the questionnaire.

I think I might be interested in this. I checked out the website given here just a moment ago to at least see if this job is still available, and it is. So anyone interested can be assured that it is even though the story was posted over two years ago.
