It is well-known that there is no Nobel Prize for mathematics, but some mathematicians have managed to win Nobel Prizes, normally for Economics.
This year's Nobel Prize for Economics has been awarded to Robert Aumann and Thomas Schelling, for their work on game theory.

| Aumann in particular has done interesting mathematics, most notably on infinitely repeated games. One of the classic examples of this is the infinitely repeated Prisoner's Dilemma.
Other well-known mathematical winners of the Nobel Prize in Economics include Kenneth Arrow for his work on voting theory, and John Nash for his work on game theory. Bertrand Russell won the Nobel Prize for Literature. |
