The GIMPS project has announced that they have found a new Mersenne prime, 2^(24,036,583)-1. This is the 41st and largest such prime known.

The GIMPS project has been previously mentioned on the YMN wesbite; it is a distributed effort to find Mersenne primes (primes of the form 2^p-1, where p is prime).

This new Mersenne prime is over 7 million digits long.

You can even buy posters with the decimal representation of this number on.
