Kevin attended the Focus group breakfast.
There's a flyer called a Guide to the Joint Meetings (from the MAA?) that we could put on or link to from our website.
Kevin will ask Ann Watkins.
The YMN could host social events, like a YMN Reception.
Kevin and Emil passed out business cards at the graduate student reception.
We need more publicity at grad schools.
We need to develop our FAQ page on the Scoop site.
John suggested that we have useful links on the sidebars.
We discussed the role of comments in the Scoop Engine.
Kevin and Emil had dinner with Linda Thiel of SIAM to discuss what SIAM could do for grads.
We talked about the SIAM career page and an idea for SIAM to create basic educational material about applied math for grads on the job market.
We should have a flyer or Fact Sheet on YMN panels in the student hospitality suite.
We discussed what topics to include on the FAQ.
Kim said she would write an item on jobs, and
Chawne said she would write something for undergrads.
It would be good to have some way to build the FAQ dynamically (automatically?).

We agreed to do two bimonthly issues for the summer.
John K. will solicit an article from Leigh on returning to academia.
Kim will write about grad school
We discussed a new mode of preparing an article by posting discussion on scoop site, then reworking the discussion into an article for the Concerns Classic.
Dov suggested we put an item on the sidebar for articles we want to solicit.
Kim pointed out a misplaced period on the link to the site in the Scoop digest.
When we plan to conduct an interview, we could ask readers to post questions in advace that we'll then include in the interview.
We collected some money to help pay for the scoop site.
Emil will set up a separate PayPal account to pay for the Scoop site: treasurer@youngmath.net.
We need to update the YMN Mission statement.
The YMN might be able to help get some fresh blood into the AWM leadership, as the AWM is getting long in the tooth.
The meeting was adjourned around 10:30.
