MAA-YMN Panel Discussion on Career Paths for Undergraduates in Mathematics
Wednesday, January 5 2:15-3:35pm

Organizers: James Hamblin (Shippensburg U), John Vano (U Wisconsin-Madison), John Kuchenbrod (MITRE Corporation)

Panelists: Linda Thiel (SIAM), James Daniel (U Texas-Austin), Paul Humke (St. Olaf College), Emil Volcheck (NSA), Michael Monticino (U North Texas)

A common question asked by undergraduates is: What can I do with a degree in mathematics? In this session, the panelists will discuss the many varied careers that an undergraduate degree can lead towards.

MAA Project NExT-YMN Panel Discussion on Dealing with the Two-Body Problem
Wednesday, January 5, 3:50-5:10pm

Panelists: John Bukowski (Juniata College), Kristen Lampe (Carroll College), Peter Lampe (U Wisconsin-Whitewater), Catherine Roberts (The College of the Holy Cross), Cathy Stenson (Juniata College)

Finding a job for one mathematician is hard enough, but what if you need jobs for two? Panelists who have searched for a personal solution to a two-body problem will discuss their attempts at a solution, the compromises and logistics involved, and their degree of satisfaction with each "solution" they tried.

Organizers: Kevin Charlwood (Washburn U), Kenneth Ross (U Oregon)

YMN Town Meeting

This panel discussion will focus on the current primary concerns of young mathematicians, from undergraduates to newly tenured professors, with emphasis on audience participation.
