In a previous story here, I talked about people who for one reason or another had had their work banned from the arXiv.

Now there is a website set up by some of those people who have been banned from the arXiv.

The ``Archive Freedom'' page gives some details on some of those who have been banned from posting preprints to the arXiv, or who have been restricted to one or two arXiv categories. From their site, it appears that all of those mentioned as being blacklisted are physicists.

Quality control for the arXiv will probably remain at least a minor issue for a while; the arXiv is run with a very small staff, so nearly everything will have to be done automatically. It remains to be seen if the arXiv can filter out obviously wrong papers (elementary proofs of Fermat's Last Theorem, for instance) without automatically blocking some genuine, if unorthodox, scientific work.

It's good that wrong papers gets stopped from being in the Arxive, but it's a pity if good ones will be stopped and have to start their own arcive somewhere else.
