There has been discussion for several years about the availability of childcare at mathematics conferences. Now there will be childcare services at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in Atlanta in January 2005. The children's program is provided by KiddieCorp.

Registration is available now through December 8 (details at the link above), and the response at this meeting will be used to help decide if this service should be offered in the future.

[new] Do any other maths conferences have childcare? (none / 0) (#1)

(AFAIK not).

You could mention how enlightened this is in comparison?

This is the first time I've heard of childcare at any math meeting, except occasionally offered by specific hotels. Our kids are younger and while we're undecided about how to handle childcare this time (partly because our toddler takes a while to get used to new people so this isn't the best for him, partly because we have family in Atlanta anyway) I hope that this is something that continues to be an option.
