Ever wonder what great mathematicians were like before they became famous? Check back monthly as we begin a new series of articles where successful mathematicians talk about their early experiences in the subject. Read about their mentors, favorite courses, most hated subjects, their various jobs, and what they would have been if they hadn't studied math.

First up: Steven Krantz (he would have been a rock star)

Speaking of what they would have been if they hadn't studied math, there was a short posting a while back linking to a list of some well-known people who you probably whould have never guessed were (at one point) math majors!
