Just saw this story of the (of the same name) on Slashdot and, combined with the current poll, it made me think back to when I was an undergrad and decided to go on to grad school. I recall going to bed late (of course) on several occasions and dreaming about the analysis, algebra, topology, etc. problems I was working on.

In fact I think I may have even solved a few of these problems in my sleep. But, as some of the discusssion on slashdot was remarking, the key is (i) being able to remember it in the morning and, given that you can remember it, (ii) does it still make any logical sense!

I was recently watching "The Math Life" and I think it might have mentioned something about mixing sleep and math as well...

Of course what all this means now it that I'm not very good at seperating my "work" and "family" life - it all runs together in both my wake and my sleep!!!
