As all of the hussle and bussle for the fall semester is coming to a close (we are in November already?) mathematicians around the globe can begin to really look forward to this year's Joint Meetings to be held in San Antonio, TX.
On top of other sessions I am sure you are excited to attend, don't forget to go to the Young Mathematicians' Network sessions that are tailored specifically for mathematicians just like you (yes, you).

There's an interesting opportunity for young PhDs to get some mentoring before heading off to teach at non-doctoral granting institutions. There's also a component for undergrads bridging into grad school.

I've proposed a possible new annual AMS prize for the top 1000 papers published in math each year. I have a description on the AWM webforum. Please look it over and post comments. The comments can be anonymous.
You can look in the awm webforums under "General Career Discussion" for "Proposing a new AMS Award" or go directly to:
this link.
Guest postings are allowed. Please let others
know and solicit their comments.

Grading AP calculus exams was suggested to me by someone at Mathfest last summer as a quick way to make some money for the summer without having to summer teach. Before I went I could definitely tell that the money wasn't bad for a week's worth of grading, but what I didn't suspect was how much fun I would have while there.
