[new] What About Community Colleges? (none / 0) (#1)
by Jonny77889 on Wed Feb 13, 2008 at 04:51:30 PM PDT

What about promotion and tenure at community colleges? Some of us here may wish to teach at a community college instead (or be forced to because we want to teach but because of a failed PhD attempt, like it is in my case). This answer regarding community colleges would be useful for us. My guess is that it is similar to how it works at liberal arts colleges, but I could be wrong. And how is "community service" defined? What can a mathematician do that the community as a whole would appreciate and would still be relevant to the mathematician's job?
