GRE scores and also which undergraduate program did you graduate from. Those are both big parts of the picture. In terms of figuring out which schools would make sense, there are a couple places to research. There are a couple different sources to research.

phd.org has a good broad set of information for many different majors.

US News has good rankings information which some good stats - which is another good place to start.

Graduate Admission Statistics and Profiles and thegradcafe have information on applicant profiles for different programs.
