Thank you for this writing. It would really aid me when rewrite my curriculum Vitae. By the way, is it necessary to include a photo of yourself when you submit your CV for employment? I really don't know the cardinal rule in creating a curriculum vitae. I hope you could shed some light on this querry. Thank you in advance.

[new] Question About Applying for Jobs (none / 0) (#2)
by Jonny77889 on Tue Jan 22, 2008 at 06:21:08 PM PDT

This information is useful for writing CV's, but I have seen several CV's (of professors) arrange events in order from earliest to latest instead of the more common latest to earliest in case you are curious. But here's my big question about applying for jobs. (I don't know if this is the best place to put this, but I cannot see right now any better place.) Is it fine to send more letters of recommendation than the college or university is asking for (for example, sending 4 instead of the 3 they ask for)? Is it okay to submit other materials they don't ask for? One job ad I am interested in does not say anything about submitting a teaching philosophy, so is it okay to submit one anyway? I can see that it might be good to do so (or least not hurt at all), but I can also see that it might hurt me since the ones in charging in hiring could interpret people sending in more than they ask as incapable of either following directions or incapable of paying attention to detail.

Thank you for posting this article, it was truly interesting to read and it contained plenty of useful tips. I'm sure lots of people can have use for this.
