You should take the GRE General and the GRE Math subject tests. Most grad programs require them. Unless you're applying to programs that don't require them. Even then, sometimes they can help your overall application if you do well on them and are maybe deficient in some other area(s). Cracking the GRE Math and Cracking the GRE are some good resources for studying for them. Good luck.

I think most math departments will care far more about your Math subject GRE scores than about your regular GRE scores. If you do well enough on the subject test, it may be puzzling but irrelevant whether you did poorly on the regular GRE.

If you are taking Math, then the GRE Math is fine. But retaking and having an excellent score in the Reg GRE will help you immensely. But when you think about it, being in math and having poor grades in verbal is really a non-factor.But if you feel otherwise, take the Reg GRE again. Either way, it's your decision.
