I don't know of anyone in that exact situation, but I knew many people in grad school who got hung up on the quals. Some semesters, a qual in a given area would be a piece of cake, and other semesters, hardly anyone would pass it. Personally, I don't know that I'd want to go through all the work it took to pass my quals all over again, but it sounds like you're pretty dedicated. Transferring might be a good option; many schools (including the one I went to) only require you to pass two quals, so you might look into a place like that.
