[new] my experience with BSM (none / 0) (#1)
by kroth on Fri Jan 27, 2006 at 09:16:59 AM PDT

I participated in the Budapest Semesters in the fall of 1996 and spring of 1997.  I think it did help my chances at getting into graduate school, after all I got to take 8 math courses that year, many more than I would have taken at my home school. Also the courses were extremely helpful in preperation for graduate school, especially real functions and measure theory (also I wish I had taken functional analysis)

Also I met a large group of great people, some of whom I still hang out with at math conferences.

The ability level of the students in my year was varied.  You didn't have to be the next Gauss (I certainly am not)  The number of applications has increased over the years and Paul Humke said that they have begun to have to reject a few qualified applicants now.  It is worth applying.

Feel free to e-mail me kroth at wju dot edu if you want to talk about BSM further.
