Thanks for posting this Kim! I missed this story on slashdot.

I know there was some interest in my year of project NExT to start a free calculus textbook project. However (at least to this point) nothing really materialized.

I'm very interested to hear what others people thinnk about using free textbooks like this. Will this be "the way of the future"? Is there interest in starting a Free Textbook Foundation (akin to the Free Software Foundation)? Students, what do you think about moving in this direction (contrast to the earlier story, also a slashdot link, on textbook prices)...

Would you also be teaching the class online?  Lecture optional? Available?

My school did an online logic course and it went horribly, there are definitely certain things that should not be taught online.

But would you have open lecture or lecture would still be mandatory?
