Albert Einstein's Birthday - March 14, 1879.

I came across this when trying to see if Google had celebrated pi day in the past. It doesn't seem to be the case but they did celebrrate Einstein's Birthday in 2003.

[new] Pi day cards (none / 0) (#2)

The pi days cards provided amusement (although it disturbed some students as well) I was a bit disturbed that some of the card said 22/7=pi instead of using some sort of approximately symbol.

[new] Einstein; Pi Day at Loyola; No Pi Day in Europe (none / 0) (#3)
by Emil Volcheck on Sat Mar 27, 2004 at 12:40:52 PM PDT

A worthwhile link for information about
Einstein's life and the Albert Einstein Society is

http://www.einstein-bern.ch .

At Loyola College, the math club celebrates
Pi Day by getting professors to volunteer
to have pies thrown at them!  (Thanks to
Mike Knapp, one of the pie-struck profs,
for this news.)

It's worth noting that there is no
Pi Day in Europe, where they write
dates as day/month rather than
month/day.  31.4.2004 doesn't exist
since April doesn't have that many days!

[new] Pi Day Celebration (none / 0) (#4)
by Anonymous Hero on Mon Apr 05, 2004 at 08:38:23 PM PDT

At my campus we celebrated Pi Day a little early, on the actual day a massive e-mail was sent through the distribution list but that was about it. We did a history of Pi PowerPoint presentation that silently ran in the background as people enjoyed pie, socialized and enjoyed the historical chronology of pi that ran from one end of the room to the other. It really got people involved since we were on the first floor of our Math/Science building. Passing people poked their heads in to see what was going on and enjoyed pie in the process. I'm glad I actually got to sit down and eat a piece myself as we didn't have any left-overs. I would recommend setting up the event relatively early though. Make sure all the equipment you need is there and don't forget any useful things like disks for presentations and cameras to take pictures. ;) Currently, Math Awareness Month is what our Math Society is celebrating. A nice presentation on Careers in Mathematics is being set up for exhibition later this month. Origami night is also a good event (turn 2-dimensions into 3-dimensions using origami...) Any other good ideas? I'm having a little bit of trouble getting people involved sometimes and can't do everything myself. Any suggestions?
